Kennedy’s assassination depict Lee Harvey Oswald as a convenient cliché: the puppet of a conspiracy or an obsessed lone gunman. Lost among the competing theories of villainy and cover-up is the real Lee Harvey Oswald, a troubled young man from a fractured family, a lonely child born without a future.

Today, in an original and dramatic new book “The Gunman and His Mother”, award-winning journalist and Pulitzer-nominee Steven Beschloss (Adrift) draws on a rich but relatively unmined public record, key interviews with Oswald’s mother Marguerite and other family members, and Lee’s own writing and statements to trace the origin of an American tragedy. Closely studying the mother-son relationship that has deserved serious treatment for a half century but has yet to receive it, the book illuminates Oswald’s difficult childhood and the troubled relationship with his mother that contributed to his downward spiral.

The new ebook is published today by Vook, and was chosen before its release for a highly competitive slot in the Kindle Singles program.
