Pear Ranked as Top 10 Gen Y Employer in Chicago

Dec 19 2013, 4:12am CST | by

Chicago, IL, December 19, 2013 –(PR.com)– Pear, a sponsorship marketing startup, is proud to announce that it has been named a Top Gen Y Employer by Brill Street + Company. Pear was ranked number seven out of the top 50 Chicagoland companies recognized. The list contains companies from all industries and of all sizes that have a presence in Chicago. Since 2009, Brill Street has been ranking the top employers for Gen Y Emerging Talent, recognizing companies where young professionals thrive. Gen Y, which Brill Street defines as anyone born between 1980 and 2000 (currently ages 13 – 33).

“Our Gen Y team members provide the fresh perspective that informs our approach to problem solving in numerous ways—from the consultative approach we take to designing disruptive sponsorship solutions for major brands, to designing mobile tools to managing a group’s sponsorship efforts for consumers and their groups,” said Jared Golden, Co-Founder and
President of Pear. “Millennials are collaborative, optimistic professionals who are passionate about their beliefs, who love to rally around causes that matter not only to them as individuals, but also to their community.”

“Building and maintaining a flexible and upbeat environment is key to fostering the people-focused culture of our business,” said Amish Tolia, Co-Founder and Chief of Strategy.

“Gen Yers are challenging employers to adapt to their lifestyles and work habits, and these companies exemplify those characteristics, bridging generational gaps,” said Kevin Carlson, CEO of Brill Street. “This year’s list was our most competitive yet and is truly representative of the best Gen Y employers in Chicago.

“I’m proud to be part of an organization that values young professionals as assets rather than liabilities,” said Jaymie Wahlen, Community Manager at Pear, a Gen Y employee. “They have actively worked with me to develop my skills. I started as an intern, and I was able to grow into my role. I told them that I was interested in community management, so they created a role for me.”
